Banff-Lake Louise is home to some of the most extraordinary terrain in Canada, and visitors are spoilt for choice when choosing recreational activities. A variety of afternoon excursions in the Banff Lake Louise area can be booked through the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, including rafting, hiking, horse-back riding, and zip-line tours. Additionally, visitors are welcome to enjoy self-guided walking, hiking and rock-climbing.
Finally, conference attendee Chenbei Chang (cchang@uab.edu) has expressed interest in a trip to the Burgess Shale on September 17th. Due to the extreme sensitivity of the area, guided trips to the Burgess Shale are must consist of groups containing a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 12 individuals. The cost for the trip would be $100 CAD. The trip would start at 8:00 AM (on Friday September 17th), and return at approximately 6:30 PM. The trip consists of a moderately difficult guided hike to cover 20Km / 12Mi (round trip), with an elevation gain of 760m / 2,500ft. Anyone interested in such a trip should contact Chenbei Chang.
